Welcome everyone to the first of Bolton Area Divers (BAD) Blogs
Well we are nearing the end of the Covid-19 lockdown and we do not know when we can get diving again, but rest assured we will get diving soon.
For those that don’t know me I am Mike one of the instructors at Bolton area divers. I have been diving for over 28 years and a PADI professional since 2011 started in Dallas Texas, moved to Bolton in 2014 and joined the staff, became and IDC staff instructor in 2015.
You may ask why I would want dive around here when you are from Australia well I have to say that the UK has some of the best wreck diving available in the world and has great travel connections to be able to dive in great locations that aren’t that far to travel as well as further afield.
During the lockdown I have managed to do a bit of virtual online teaching, I have taught Drysuit, Rescue and Project Aware which have all been great, thanks to all the students that took part.
Regarding to teaching I love all level of teaching from discover scuba through to assistant instructor but I also teach a couple of distinctive specialities. Those have been underwater pumpkin craving and zombie apocalypse scuba diver. Underwater pumpkin craving is exactly what the title is – craving pumpkins underwater which is a lot of fun, you can even get a certification card for it which is a fun when you give it to dive shop when you are travelling. The zombie apocalypse is all about diving with zombies, it is a lot of fun and a great cert card to have.
Once lockdown gets out of the way, we hope to be running courses again and trips. We will be getting in touch with everyone whose course we postponed as soon as the shop opens.
We hope to keep you updated each month with a little blog post so watch out for next months!
Monthly dive tip – if you have your own wetsuit, mask or BCD one of the cheapest and most effective ways to clean them is in the bath with Milton sterilising fluid.
Monthly dive joke – Where do scuba divers go to relax after work?
